HIGH ON FIRE

San Fransisco's mighty power trio High on Fire, make their first trip to Ireland to perform in Whelans this july. Featuring Matt Pike, formerly of enigmatic stoner-metal legend Sleep, and Joe Preston formerly of The Melvins, High on Fire's Motorhead meets Slayer roar is outragously loud and absolutely punishing. Formed by Pike in late summer 1998; a scant six months after the breakup of Sleep. Their current album, the Steve Albini engineered "Blessed Black Wings"  Unleashes a devastating combination of bombastic guitar and howling war cries, weaving fantastical tales of supernatural beasts, forgotten battles and rivers of blood over an unstoppable bass and drum assault. HIGH ON FIRE are a class unto themselves, manhandling rock music while locking into grooves that transcend time.
